Following LCTR’s launch, an enormous amount of energy and enthusiasm was mobilised throughout the Labour Party in support of trans people’s rights and liberation. Following this outpouring of solidarity, LCTR’s pledges have now been signed by over 4000 individual Labour Party members, representing a massive cross-section of strong support for trans people at all levels and sections of the Labour Party and the labour movement. LCTR’s pledges have also been signed by the great majority of candidates for Labour leadership and deputy leadership, including every woman running for either of these positions. The full list of signatories in these contests is:
Leadership:
- Rebecca Long-Bailey
- Lisa Nandy
- Emily Thornberry
Deputy Leadership:
- Angela Rayner
- Dawn Butler
- Rosena Allin-Khan
This level of grassroots and leadership support clearly shows that support for trans people represents the mainstream of the Labour Party and our entire movement. We hope that our supporters will act on the pledges to continue organising for trans liberation throughout our party and beyond.
